Wimbers

Wimbledon's still a fortnight away but we've taken an early look at what's on offer.

Betfair have Federer as a standout favourite at 2.64 to lift the title, with Nadal and Murray joint second faves at 5.6.

We don't like these odds hugely in such an unpredictable event - grass court singles where the champion has to win seven matches.

Until the picture becomes a bit clearer we're suggesting a better value bet.

Betfair have Andy Roddick at 40 to lift the title. Now, while he's got an outside chance, we don't really believe he'll do it. Our point here, though, is that we reckon with his Wimbers record and gigantic serve he's a great bet to get to the second week and probably into the quarters or semis. By then his price will have come right down and he can be laid off which will guarantee a small profit whether he goes on to win the tournament or not.

This is also a great tactic with some of the rank outsiders. Betfair have got a lot of players at 1000. Now, if you can find one who'll get through two or three rounds, his price will come right down and he can be laid off for a good guaranteed profit no matter what happens.

For these purposes we like the look of Jurgen Melzer and last year's semi-finalist Rainer Schuettler.
