Kuznetsova win

Ok...who didn't follow our advice on the French Open women's singles final? FOOLS!!!

We told you to back Kuznetsova to beat Safina at 3.2 with Betfair. Safina was a hot bookies' favourite but we loved the odds on Kuz. For those who don't quite understand the decimal point odds, it's really very simple. You multiply your stake by the price to work out how much you get back.

In other words $10 on Kuznetsova at 3.2 would have returned $32 - a clear profit of $22!!! Not bad in a two horse race.

We can't get it right every time, but we'll keep trying to find you the best value tennis tips.

Fed v Del five setter

First things first, a recap on yesterday's tips.

OK, we called it wrong on Gonzalez v Soderling. We predicted a win for the Chilean but the forehand which destroyed Andy Murray failed to show up today.

However, we think we more than made up for it with our tip that the best value bet in the Federer v Del Potro clash was a 3-2 win for the Swiss genius at 7.6 on Betfair. A $10 punt there would have returned a $66 profit...not bad.

So all in all, anyone following our two tips yesterday should have done very nicely, despite the 50 per cent success rate.

Today's tip is straightforward. Back Svetlana Kuznetsova to beat Dinara Safina in the French Open women's singles final.

Safina might be world number one but she only leads 8-5 in the head to head. The pair are locked at 1-1 tis year - both on clay - and Kuznetsova has had a great tourney so far.

In fairness in a straight evens bet we'd go for Safina, but Betfair are offering Kuznetsova at 3.2 at time of writing. In a match you'd probably give her a 40 per cent chance of winning that represents great value.

Good luck!!!

Gonz v Sod

June 4 2009

Next up for us to look at is the other semi-final between Fernando Gonzalez and Robin Soderling.

The Swede's had a sensational tournament with his win over red-hot favourite Rafael Nadal and his demolition of Davydenko.

But we can't see past Gonzalez for this one. He's 4-3 up in the head to head - including winning the last four - and has been this deep in a grand slam before . (He's a former Oz Open finalist)

If Gonz finds anything approaching the form which destroyed Andy Murray in the last round then he's a nap cert to make the final. Get on Betfair at 1.81.

Take Rog in five

June 4 2009

First match we're gonna look at is tomorrow's French Open semi-final between Roger Federer and Juan Martin Del Potro.

Del Potro has been in fantastic form all year - and especially this fortnight. His Betfair price of 4 at time of writing would normally be tempting, but we just don't think Fed can lose this one. He's 5-0 in head to heads, including a comfortable 6-3, 6-4 win on the clay in Madrid a couple of weeks ago. The only thing we don't like about Fed is his price with Betfair - 1.32. Our advice is to stay clear of this match unless Fed goes up to 1.5. Also, if by some miracle Del Potro goes to 7 then he's worth a punt. If you really must have a bet on this match then best value looks like Federer to win 3-2 at 7.6.
